Losing a child is one of the most painful things a parent can ever go through, having them stolen from your home in the middle of the night, right from under your nose is even worse…
This movie follows the narrative of a small mining town where the population is slowly becoming more and more destitute as the jobs and money run dry – but children begin disappearing, taken by a mysterious force known only as the Tall Man. Is he a man? Or is he something more?
I love the way this movie winds you up and leads you down various rabbit holes, before finally ending up in a place… but it’s not really where you would expect. It’s always a little difficult writing for a movie like this because there is so much I would love to discuss, but can’t due to the nature of it, and my lack of desire to give anything away.
So while this movie lacks a distinctive scare factor, it does suspense very well – an easy four of out five bloody kitties, since I very much enjoy re-watching it.
