One of the favorites of my generation – Friday the 13th is the classic slasher horror. If you haven’t seen it – you should! This movie was twisting before M. Night Shyamalan was out of high school!
Group of camp counselors, a lake, before the campers arrive, getting ready – drugs, sex – the perfect storm for murder. Now, those who have seen this movie, know how it turns out, but for those that haven’t, it’s not what you expect, and set the tone for horror movies going forward. Besides, who doesn’t love seeing a big name actor who’s just starting out get himself killed? The kills, while maybe not the most inventive, are certainly bloody and well done, as is to be expected in your typical slasher film, and definitely does not leave the watcher wanting – except for maybe the end, then you just want the sequel.
We all know I’m a pretty tough cookie when it comes to my judgement of a movie, and while I love the classics, they don’t get high marks just because they’re classics. However, this movie does happily earn four bloody kitties, because it’s just that good.
