Picking up where the original left off, Insidious: Chapter 2 chronicles the on going haunting of the Lambert’s. Dealing with being haunted in the middle of a death investigation is not one of the easiest things to do – and then moving back in with your mother while you’re at it continues to add stress.
This movie is one of the few “true” continuation movies that literally picks up from where the first movie ended, instead of letting hours, days, months, or years pass before the story comes in to play again. The same attention to detail is paid, and we learn more about The Further and what exactly can be done in such a dimension.
It is as good a movie as the first, picking up where it left off is perfect, especially with the continuation. I do feel it has a down side in that you really lose a lot if you try to pick up the movie and watch it without watching the first – making it very reliant on the first movie for a lot of its “wow” factor, but it is good for a re-watch, especially on a marathon movie night – giving it a simple 3 bloody kitties.
